Tuscan Embassy is an independent, English-language guide to the parts of Tuscany that most travel writing skips — the valleys beyond Florence and Siena, their towns, their makers and the stories behind them.
Why Tuscan Embassy exists
Most of what is written about Tuscany in English covers the same handful of places, and much of it is repeated from other English sources. The quieter regions — the Casentino, the Mugello, the Colline Metallifere and others — are documented in remarkable detail, but almost always in Italian: in municipal archives, Pro Loco pages, local histories and newspaper reports. Tuscan Embassy exists to bring that knowledge into English, for travelers who want to understand where they are.
How we work
- Italian sources first. Every region starts with a research dossier built from Italian-language sources, before a single article is written.
- Recognition, plus something extra. We cover the places you may already know, and add the history, detail and context you will not find in a standard guide.
- Corrections where they are due. When a popular claim does not hold up — a misattributed building, a legend repeated as fact — we say so.
- Practical and current. Seasons, driving times, parking, reservations and recent changes on the ground are part of every guide.
